Jeremiah Davis residence, 216 North Second Street. In 1859, when the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway was projected to go south of Rockford, he moved to Ogle County, Illinois. Davis laid out and founded the town of Davis Junction in 1874, which bears his name. After coming to Rockford, he was elected to the city council from the First ward in 1885 and served one term.

Charles D. Burr, Burr Heights was located along North Second Street, current address 2 Jacoby Place. The gatehouse was located along North Second Street and led to the Burr Mansion. Burr was president of Burr Brothers Cash Grocers. Also known as the Lysander Jacoby House.
